The new facility is expected to open summer 2025.City Manager Brian Loventhal said the need for a new library was identified in 2013 as city officials examined what facilities needed a facelift. Nearly two dozen toddlers sickened by lead linked to tainted applesauce pouches, CDC says U.S. health officials are warning doctors to be on the lookout for possible cases of lead poisoning in children after at least 22 toddlers in 14 states were sickened by lead linked to tainted pouches of cinnamon apple puree and applesauce.Children ages 1 to 3 were affected, and at least one child showed a blood lead level eight times higher than the level that raises concern, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said. There’s no safe level of lead exposure, but the CDC uses a marker of 3.5 micrograms per deciliter to identify children with higher levels than most. The affected children’s blood lead levels ranged from 4 to 29 micrograms per deciliter. The reported symptoms included headache, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, a change in activity level and anemia. The illnesses are part of an outbreak tied to recalled pouches of fruit puree marketed to kids from the brands WanaBana apple cinnamon fruit puree and Schnucks and Weis cinnamon applesauce pouches. Stumbling Falcons head into bye week with 3 straight losses and questions everywhere ATLANTA (AP) — It’s starting to feel like Arthur Smith is coaching for his job with the Atlanta Falcons. After three straight losses, including a final-play setback to the woeful Arizona Cardinals, the Falcons (4-6) head into their bye week with questions all over the field — and on the sideline. Who is the No. 1 quarterback? What happened to the defense that was supposed to be dramatically improved after an offseason spending spree? Is Smith’s job on the line if things don’t turn around?“You embrace it — the good, the bad, the pressure,” Smith said Monday. “The good news is we’re not dead.”Indeed, the Falcons are hardly out of contention in the mediocre NFC South, trailing the first-place Saints by only a game. But they have failed so far to take advantage of a weak schedule. Atlanta’s first 10 opponents have a combined record of 41-52.Smith said he’ll look into almost everything during the bye week, but there is one area that will not change: his ...

QB Stroud continues to shine for Texans, leads another game-winning drive HOUSTON (AP) — Another week, another game-winning drive by C.J. Stroud. The rookie quarterback led a six-play, 55-yard drive, capped by a 38-yard field goal to lift the Houston Texans to a 30-27 win over Cincinnati on Sunday. That performance came after he finished a 75-yard drive with a 15-yard touchdown pass to give the Texans a 39-37 victory over Tampa Bay last week. The second overall pick is the only rookie quarterback in the past 40 years to lead game-winning drives in the final two minutes in two straight games.“The calmness starts for him in that he’s played in a lot of big games at Ohio State,” coach DeMeco Ryans said. “He’s been under the big lights before … and he’s made big plays. He doesn’t get wide-eyed when the moment comes. He understands that: ’I believe in my teammates, I believe in myself, and I believe in the O-line that is protecting me and I know I’m going to make plays.’”He threw for 356 yards and a touchdown and overcame three turnovers to give the Texans (5-4) ...
