Vikings WR Justin Jefferson makes a pitch for Kirk Cousins’ future in Minnesota

Published Tue, 04 Mar 2025 00:58:08 GMT

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — With the future of the Minnesota Vikings’ offense in an uncertain position because of quarterback Kirk Cousins’ injury and pending free agency, star receiver Justin Jefferson once again made his feelings about Cousins well known on Wednesday.Cousins, who sustained a season-ending Achilles tendon tear in Week 8 at Green Bay, is nearing the end of a one-year, $35 million contract with Minnesota. Without the four-time Pro Bowl quarterback, the Vikings’ offense has lacked consistency, and three QBs have started in his absence.Jefferson, who will enter the fifth season of his rookie contract next season and is due an extension, has appreciated his time with Cousins and seemingly would like Minnesota to maintain the status quo.“I feel like I’m always voicing my opinion on Kirk,” Jefferson said. “As much as people downgrade him and not want to give him his credit, I’m always the person that always gives him his credit. I’m always blessed and just accepting of the person ...

LIVERPOOL, England (AP) — Manchester City had to come from behind to beat Everton 3-1 on Wednesday and climb back into the Premier League’s top four. Just back from winning its first Club World Cup title in Saudi Arabia, City went behind to Jack Harrison’s first-half goal but recovered after the break thanks to a well-taken strike by Phil Foden and a penalty by Julian Alvarez.Bernardo Silva added the third when he pounced on a poor clearance by Jordan Pickford to curl home into an empty net in the 86th. It was only City’s second win in seven league matches but lifted the defending champions above Tottenham into fourth place, five points behind leader Liverpool with a game in hand. Second-place Arsenal can move six points clear of City by beating West Ham on Thursday. City was without Erling Haaland again because of a foot injury and Pep Guardiola’s side had a sluggish start as Everton took the lead in the 29th minute. City midfielder Rodri was pressured into an uncharacteristi...

BRENTFORD, England (AP) — South Korea forward Hwang Hee-chan scored twice as Wolverhampton took full advantage of Brentford’s defensive mistakes to secure a 4-1 win in the Premier League on Wednesday.Wolves followed up its win on Sunday over Chelsea by collecting another festive three points. It was a first victory in London in 15 attempts for Wolves, the last coming in a 2-0 win at Tottenham in February last year. But it was gifted to the visitors by a depleted Brentford side which could soon be looking nervously over its shoulder at the relegation battle after a fourth straight defeat and a sixth in seven matches. The first goal came in the 13th minute, when Pablo Sarabia’s cross was met by a header from the totally unmarked Mario Lemina to put Wolves ahead. What came next was farcical for the hosts as they played the ball back from their own kickoff toward goalkeeper Mark Flekken. Nathan Collins’ back pass to the Dutchman was under-hit and, barely 10 seconds after the r...

Wetter, then Colder

Published Tue, 04 Mar 2025 00:58:08 GMT

More weather changes are on the way, south Florida. First will come the last batch of rain for the year. Then, on its heels, a push of much cooler air is coming. These two weather events will originate from two separate systems which both have their sights on our region. On Thursday, an area of low pressure coming out of the Gulf of Mexico will bring a surge of rain showers and wind. It will be a damp day with the potential for many areas to pick up an inch, or more, of rain. Once the rain tapers off (which may take awhile on Thursday, until later in the day) we’ll watch for an approaching front from the north. It’s a strong cold front that will bring both drying and a 10 to 15-degree temperature drop. What’s unique about the upcoming cold weather pattern is how long it’s going to persist. So far this season, it’s been common for quick “cold snaps” that last 2 or 3 days and nights. This time? The cool connection will hold for nearly...
